The Women’s Wing of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, together with the Kyiv Regional Trade Union organization, carried out a significant support initiative for those forced to leave their homes due to the war.

Over 200 pairs of prescription glasses were handed to internally displaced persons from temporarily Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine. This assistance proved especially valuable for people who, due to the war, have lost not only their homes and normal way of life but also the ability to secure basic necessities. Among the recipients were both adults and children.

The charitable initiative was led by the head of the Trade Union’s Women’s Wing, Sofiya Cherepanova, who emphasized the importance of care and solidarity:
“We continue to work so that no one is left alone with their difficulties. For us, it is important not only to talk about support but to take action. Every pair of glasses is someone’s opportunity to see the world more clearly, learn, and feel more confident. We want Ukrainians to know that even in the toughest times, they are not left to face their problems alone — the Trade Union is always there. Among those who received glasses were the wife and son of a missing Ukrainian defender, as well as displaced women who weave camouflage nets for the army in the Chernihiv region. We believe that such actions help build a stronger, fairer, and more caring Ukraine.”
