Every year on November 20, Ukraine celebrates Children’s Day — a holiday aimed at drawing public attention to issues affecting childhood. On this day, at the invitation of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Kyiv and with the support of the Women’s Wing of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, the children of Defenders attended a cozy masterclass, the “Workshop of Courage,” organized by the city’s rescuers.

The participants enjoyed an hour of creativity and inspiring interaction with “heroes without weapons” in the permanent safety classroom in Kyiv’s Podil district. Together with the State Emergency Service staff, the children made their own safety lanterns to help overcome fears and created personal anti-stress talismans as symbols of calm.

At the same time, on the initiative of Sofiia Cherepanova, Deputy Chair of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine and Head of the Women’s Wing, rescuers conducted activities for second-grade students at a school in Kyiv’s Sviatoshyn district. The children not only developed their creativity but also learned about safety during martial law in a playful and engaging way.

“I sincerely thank our State Emergency Service rescuers for always finding the time and opportunity to support children, giving them knowledge, warmth, and a sense of security. It is extremely important for us that every child knows there are those nearby who hold their hand and help them overcome fears. These meetings are about trust, creativity, and the strength that comes from humanity,” said Sofiia Cherepanova.

At the end of the events, all participants received thoughtful gifts from the “heroes without weapons” as keepsakes.
