At the Center for Veteran Development of the Kyiv Professional College of Applied Sciences, which was opened in December 2024 with the participation of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, a working meeting was held on the development of the Trade Union’s gender policy and the inclusion of family members of veterans and families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine—particularly women—in educational programs.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Heads of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Sofiia Cherepanova and Rahim Babaiev, women's wing activist of the Trade Union Yevheniia Shendera, and the Head of the Center, Ihor Panchenko.
Special attention was given to the formation of women’s training groups in the following specialties:
– hairdressing art;
– footwear design and manufacturing;
– basics of design and technology of accessory manufacturing, and more.

“I am proud that our Trade Union participated in the implementation of this project. This Center is more than just an educational initiative aimed at supporting defenders—both men and women—and their family members. It is a responsibility for their well-being in the new life ‘after,’ with respect for their honor and dignity. It is another point of support on the path to socio-psychological adaptation, skills improvement, and acquiring a fundamentally new profession,” says Sofiia Cherepanova.

Special attention was focused on developing support for wounded servicemen undergoing long-term treatment in medical facilities in Kyiv and who are temporarily physically limited. During the discussions, an agreement was reached to establish the volunteer mission “Defender’s Assistant,” which will involve specialists providing massages to prevent protrusions and bedsores.
