For the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, the fight for their country is not only about defending territory on the frontlines but also about upholding the right to their own history, language, culture, and spiritual values as a whole.
Today, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the public initiative #InfoVARTA and the cultural-educational project *“Ruthenium: The Graphics of the Ukrainian Language.”* The project offers a national form of the Ukrainian alphabet and a writing system that clearly distinguishes Ukrainian script from the imperial pseudo-Cyrillic “Grazhdanka.” It serves as a symbol of statehood, a foundation for modern Ukrainian fonts, and yet another border of Ukraine.
Purpose of the Memorandum:
🔸 Initiating and supporting educational, community, and research programs based on Ruthenium as a tool for shaping identity;
🔸 Promoting the social, professional, and cultural adaptation of service members, veterans, combatants, and their family members through joint educational and rehabilitation initiatives;
🔸 Strengthening Ukrainian national identity and historical memory by implementing Ruthenium in the Trade Union’s activities based on a licensing agreement.
The Memorandum was signed by Sofia Cherepanova, Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, and Nestor Volia, co-founder of the public initiative #InfoVARTA, serviceman, and public figure. The event was attended by Yulia Zak, activist of the Trade Union’s women’s wing, and Angelika Kornienko, calligrapher, co-founder of #InfoVARTA, and director of the project “Ruthenium: The Graphics of the Ukrainian Language.”
“This partnership is more than just a formal collaboration. It is a union of people who understand that the fight for Ukraine continues in the realms of language, symbols, and national memory,” said Yulia Zak, the initiator of the cooperation.
“Signing this document holds special significance for the Trade Union family, as the issue of cultural self-determination is directly linked to national security and societal resilience. It is a matter of dignity, the strength of the nation, and responsibility toward those who are today fighting for Ukraine’s right to its own civilizational path,” added Sofia Cherepanova.
