Russian-Ukrainian war veteran and Advisor to the Head of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Andrii Madzharov, undertook an exceptionally brave and symbolic journey — walking 1,500 km from the Polish border to the capital of the European Union.

Enduring homesickness, hunger, sleepless nights, rain, cold, and the discomforts of sleeping outdoors, after more than 90 days on the road, Andrii finally reached Brussels. Friends and Ukrainian communities from across Europe gathered to welcome the Defender of Ukraine. Members of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine from Kyiv, led by the Head of the Kyiv Regional Organization, Rahim Babaiev, also arrived to personally support their comrade and share this significant moment.

“Through his journey, Andrii conveys what is sometimes hard to put into words. We came to support him and show that he is not alone on this path. He is heard, admired, and a source of pride,” said Rahim.

On November 10–11, Andrii is scheduled to speak at a European Parliament session. He aims to highlight the price Ukraine pays to contain the enemy and maintain peace in Europe, as well as to request increased arms supplies and expanded humanitarian aid for the treatment, rehabilitation, and prosthetics of our soldiers.
“It so happened that my journey brought together those who support Ukraine. May it continue this way,” the defender said modestly.
