The new school year should begin with a sense of support — regardless of the city or region where a child lives. That is why the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine continues to implement the “Give a Child Knowledge” initiative, launched by the Trade Union’s Women’s Wing ahead of the new school year.

As the Trade Union unites the families of Defenders across different regions of Ukraine, the initiative also provided an opportunity to receive school kits by mail. Children who live outside Kyiv and were unable to attend the celebration in Kyiv in person received their gifts at their place of residence.

The gift kit is not only a collection of items necessary for school, but also a sign of care and attention to children and their families. The Trade Union strives to ensure that every child of a Defender has the opportunity to feel supported ahead of the new school year.

“We want the children to receive not only school supplies, but also a good mood before the start of the school year and to feel that they are remembered and cared for. Since we unite Trade Union members across Ukraine, it is important to us that children who do not live in the capital also receive their gifts. For me, this is the main purpose of this initiative,” says Sofia Cherapanova, founder of the Women’s Wing of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine.

A total of 35 school kits with school supplies and sportswear have been sent across Ukraine to children of Ukrainian defenders who are members of the Trade Union.
