Ahead of the new school year, the Women’s Wing of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine organized a truly special celebration for the children of Ukraine’s Defenders at the Trade Union House in Kyiv.

The children were treated to an hour and a half of a vibrant entertainment program by the “Feieryia ChudYES” celebration studio, featuring fun contests, active games, and a twisting balloon dance party, during which the animators created various balloon figures for the children. The celebration concluded with wonderful gifts — each child received a school kit prepared as part of the charitable “Give a Child Knowledge” initiative. It included notebooks for writing and drawing, stationery supplies, creative materials, folders and notebook covers, a class schedule, a drawstring bag for spare shoes, comics about modern heroes of the war, and Ukrainian folk tales.

“We wanted this day to be a real celebration for the children — filled with fun, activity, gifts, and genuine emotions. After all, supporting the children of Ukraine’s Defenders is about much more than providing school supplies. At a time when the childhood of young Ukrainians is taking place amid war, it is especially important to create moments of joy, carefree happiness, and a sense of ordinary childhood life. It is these moments that create warm memories, helping children keep their faith in goodness, feel cared for, and understand that there are people around them who truly care,” comments Sofia Cherapanova, Head of the Women’s Wing of the Trade Union.

The All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to Maryna Burnazaki for funding the children’s celebration and part of the stationery supplies for the school kits; to the defenders of the Mariupol garrison and the band “SKRYABIN” for organizing a charity auction in support of the children of Heroes; and to the “Tetrada” company for providing notebooks for writing and drawing. Special thanks go to all caring Ukrainians who joined the “Give a Child Knowledge” initiative, supported it, and helped turn the idea into reality.
