The All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine systematically develops sports initiatives, creating a space for socializing, support, and active recreation among like-minded people.
Recently, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Organization of the Trade Union, with the support of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Federation of Trade Unions and the Municipal Enterprise “Veteran Space” of the Dnipro City Council, held petanque sports sessions in the city of Dnipro for everyone interested.
Petanque is a sport originating from France, where the goal is, while standing inside a circle (both feet on the ground), to throw hollow metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden target ball. In Ukraine, the game became popular in the early 2000s.
During the sessions, participants learned about the history of petanque, had the opportunity to master the basic rules of the game, and try their skills on the court. Despite power and heating outages, the players enjoyed a great time in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
