Amid the full-scale war, thousands of Ukrainians are forced to seek new employment opportunities, change professions, or shift career paths. This issue is particularly urgent for internally displaced persons, veterans, women, youth, and people with disabilities — groups of citizens most at risk of social isolation and economic instability.

Recently, a roundtable meeting was held in the capital on the topic “Roadmap for Activating and Reintegration of Vulnerable Groups in the Labor Market.” The event was attended by Andrii Shvets, Advisor to the Chair of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine.

During the open dialogue, participants discussed mechanisms for professional training and retraining of veterans, promoting employment for IDPs, supporting people with disabilities, developing an inclusive labor market, and effectively reintegrating defenders into civilian life. Special attention was given to consolidating the country’s internal resources and strengthening cooperation with international partners in preparation for large-scale post-war recovery.

“For us, the employment and social protection of defenders is one of the key areas of our work. The All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine systematically works to ensure that the voices of veterans are heard at all levels — from local communities to central government bodies. We initiate legislative changes, participate in shaping state employment programs, and contribute to the development of mechanisms for retraining and creating new jobs for those returning from the front. Our goal is not only to help find work but also to ensure decent working conditions, proper social guarantees, and protection of labor rights. We are convinced that the reintegration of defenders must be comprehensive — from psychological support to economic self-realization. The Trade Union is ready to continue actively contributing to the development of systemic solutions in employment and support for our warriors,” emphasized Andrii Shvets.
