Valeriy Barskyi, the First Deputy Chairman of the \"Dynamo\" sports society, has been training children for many years. Mr. Barskyi is a Ukrainian sambist, judoka, an international master of sports, an honored coach of Ukraine, and an international category judge. He mentions that many famous athletes have emerged from the Mykolaiv sports society, including Olympic champions Olga Kharlan and Olena Khomrova, honored master of sports in athletics Inga Babakova, European boxing champion and Olympic Games participant Oleh Mashkin, among others. By the way, this Mykolaiv sports society is the oldest in Ukraine, says Mr. Barskyi.<\/p>\n
\"I may not be able to recall everyone right now, but we have over 60 masters of sports and over 20 international masters of sports. Before the war, more than 350 children from sports schools trained at our facility. At the beginning of the full-scale war in 2022, when disaster struck our land, Russian missiles hit the facility. Almost all the windows were destroyed, with about a thousand square meters of windows damaged. The roof of the building caught fire, but firefighters extinguished it. The dormitory for athletes was heavily damaged as well, with no windows left,\" Barskyi recounts.<\/p>\n
Currently, a major fundraising effort is underway for the repair of the sports facility, with several organizations already joining the cause. Members of the Trade Union have also decided to contribute. Military members of the Trade Union from the 72nd Brigade, the Azov Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU), the Special Purpose Sniper Platoon, and the Combat Support Battalion of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the NGU responded to the request of the Mykolaiv sports official and raised 100,000 UAH. This money will be directed to the general fund for the repair of the damaged sports facility building.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the Trade Union, Serhiy Byzov, says that the members of the Trade Union quickly raised the money because they understand the importance of sports education for children.<\/p>\n
A fighter from the 72nd Brigade, Volodymyr, with the call sign \"Irishman,\" emphasized that it is important for the military to defend and restore life after the Russian occupiers, so his comrades did not hesitate long to help.<\/p>\n
As Barskyi explains, the preparatory phase for repairing the dormitory is now beginning, and he expresses great gratitude to the trade union for the opportunity to restore the facility. He adds that many children are currently being trained at the Dynamo sports base, and various competitions and events are being held there.<\/p>\n
