Oleksandr Kononuchenko, an ordinary car service administrator, led a normal life until 24 February 2022. He worked and made plans for the future. However, Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine became a moment of truth for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab24 February - this day was a shock for me<\/strong><\/em>\", says Oleksandr. When he saw Ukrainians uniting against the enemy, he decided not to stand aside. The next day, he visited five military enlistment offices, but due to the large influx of people wishing to join the ranks of the defenders, they were no longer accepting. But Oleksandr did not give up - on 26 February, he joined a volunteer unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first months of service were filled with new challenges. Oleksandr was engaged in guarding, patrolling and detecting sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs), while studying military affairs. His training was intensive, but essential to be ready for any situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the situation stabilised, Oleksandr and his friend decided that he was needed in Donbas, where active hostilities were taking place. There he joined a small tactical group, and it was here that \"real military life\" began: assaults, reconnaissance, shooting down enemy helicopters and fighters, mortar attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But everything changed in the summer of 2023, when he was involved in a counter-offensive near Robotyno and sustained another concussion. This injury was the reason for his return to his native Kyiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, after that, Oleksandr did not lose his desire to help. \"I really want to go to war, where there is real brotherhood and real life. But I realise that I can do much more good here<\/em>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oleksandr not only proved himself at the front, but also became an activist in civilian life. He took part in a peaceful rally, where he and other activists advocated for the rights of the military near the Druzhba hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
