An international Series A karate tournament, the \u201cMalanka Cup,\u201d took place in Chernivtsi, bringing together over 800 participants from Ukraine and Moldova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty athletes aged 8 to 22 from the Lviv-based \u201cPhoenix\u201d club took part in the competition. Their coaches are members of the Lviv Regional Organization of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine\u2014Denys Pichuhin, Olena Pletniova, and Dmytro Fedotov.<\/p>\n\n\n

Since this was the first tournament of the new year, the athletes were not given specific competitive objectives. The main emphasis was on correcting mistakes, self-improvement, and developing an understanding of the opponent. Nevertheless, the Lviv karate athletes delivered strong results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st place \u2014 Dmytro Fedotov, kumite, men (75 kg);
1st place \u2014 Oksana Mudrak, kumite, junior women (66 kg);
3rd place \u2014 Anastasiia Dumych, kumite, youth (66+ kg);
5th place \u2014 Olia Babiak, kumite, cadet girls (61 kg);
5th place \u2014 Sofiia Kulchytska, kumite (52+ kg);
7th place \u2014 Taras Kondiukh (-63 kg, -75 kg).<\/p>\n\n\n
