The volunteer unit “Asgard” is one of the subdivisions within the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specializing in air defense and drone operations. It is not a traditional community-based volunteer formation, but a highly professional defense unit that recruits volunteers who have undergone a rigorous selection process.
Members of the primary trade union organization of Legion “D” of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine directly carry out combat missions within the Asgard Volunteer Drone Forces, participating in the defense of Kyiv’s airspace.

It is a particular source of pride that women serve in the unit — strong, focused, and responsible. They stand watch on the northern approaches to the capital, detecting and neutralizing enemy drones before they reach the city. Among them is Svitlana Lutsiv, an activist of the Women’s Wing of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine and mother of two young children.
“For me, this is not just service. It is my personal contribution to the safety of Kyiv, my family, and all Ukrainians. I want our children to wake up not to explosions, but to silence and a sense of security. If I can do even something to stop the enemy in the sky, I will be here, in my place,” says Svitlana.

The women of the Trade Union prove that defending Ukraine knows no gender. There is only responsibility, strength of spirit, and love for the Motherland.
